Baobab Community 2017-18 Season

We are excited for this season!

  • Check out our monthly Friday night adult workshops, 7-9pm (the fourth Friday of every month beginning Sept 22)
  • Classes for ages 7-12 are Wednesdays 6:15-7:15 -starts Sept 20 & Jan 17
  • Rehearsals for our Youth Group (ages 12-18) are Wednesdays 4:30-6pm

Rhythm & Health Night!

An interactive exploration of the connections between drumming and wellness

Location: All Saints Events Space, 10 Blackburn Ave, Ottawa

Admission: Freewill donation to support  Baobab Community’s subsidized drumming spots for children and youth

Join us for this special evening featuring

  • Hands-on drumming /movement workshop
  • Kathy Armstrong’s Drumming Up Health research project highlights
  • Panel discussion exploring drumming and wellbeing with speakers from arts, education, community development, health and social services
  • Performance by the Baobab Youth Performers
  • Refreshments

Sunday February 11, 1-3pm

Rhythm Café 

Featuring performances by Baobab Youth, the ROOTS kids, coffee, tea, treats, silent auction & more! An annual fundraiser in support of Baobab Community’s arts education programming

Admission: $10 adults, $5 students and seniors, kids under 12 FREE

RHYTHM TREK

IMG_8814Summer Drum Camp for ages 7-12

August 13-17, 2018 from 9am-4pm

Location: Baobab Community Space, St George’s Church 415 Piccadilly Ave, Ottawa (Island Park & Wellington)

Activities include: West African drumming, singing, movement, visual art and cultural exploration. The week culminates in a food and performance celebration! We only hold camp one week in the summer so we put all our energy into creating a very special week!

Cost $225 (includes instruments and supplies) Some subsidized spots available.
