Educator & School Programs

Educators Corner

Baobab Community Educational offerings:

Drums-In-Schools
This exciting program allows a school, community centre, or other educational organization to borrow a set of Ghanaian drums and small percussion instruments for a month at nominal cost. Participating schools are encouraged to send a teacher to one of our workshops prior to getting the drums to make the project more successful and meaningful. This program was launched with the generous help of the Gaia Fund, through the Ottawa Community Foundation.

Tree House Field Trips
School classes, daycares and other educational groups can now visit the Tree House Studio for field trip drumming workshops during the day. For details on scheduling and costs, please contact our office. (613)725-6994. inof@baobabtree.org

OUTREACH PROGRAMS

Baobab has partnered with Hintonburg Community Centre to offer free drumming classes for children. We also regularly visit after school programs and through funding from the Rotary Club and the City of Ottawa offer subsidized spots in our camps and classes for children and youth. These programs, which include mentoring opportunities for youth,  offer valuable educational and health benefits to all participants.
